A couple of weeks in Mexico with Angus Macqueen to gather some images and shoot some drone footage for his ‘Maradona in Mexico’ series for Netflix.

Based in the Sinaloan city of Culiacan in North West Mexico, the home town of Maradona’s football team, Doradas de Sinaloa. It is also the cradle of drug traffickers. A few weeks after we left, the streets were filled with cartel gunmen driving pick-ups mounted with machine guns in open battle with the state security forces after the arrest of El Chapo’s son. The cartel shut the airport, took control of the city and he was subsequently released.

We also had a trip to Tijuana on the US border, which also has it’s fair share of drug violence. Heavily armed police and vehicles with mounted machine guns guarded the city streets as drunken men staggered around and prostitutes stood in door ways. I also saw Trump’s steel border fence being built in the desert on the edge of town. It was strange seeing it off in the distance disappearing in to the sea.
